"Snow leopards are also known as "Ghosts of the Mountains" - they are elegant and elusive. Perfectly adapted to the cold, barren landscape of their high-altitude home.
Hunting, habitat loss and declines in natural prey are amongst the greatest threats to the species. Climate change also threatens Snow Leopards, as rising global temperatures can severely impact alpine habitat and prey.
This Snow Leopard peers out from a craggy rock ledge. The animal’s spotted grey and beige fur allows it to blend in almost completely with the rocks, making the cat a nearly invisible hunter – a true “Ghost of the
