Barbra Regamey McDonald has been sketching and painting her surroundings, family and friends since she was a child. After raising three children into their teens, it was time to get a formal art education. Barbra chose three years of Graphic Design. Immediately after obtaining her Diploma she began her career as a designer. She worked full time in this field successfully for 11 years until events in her life took her back to full time school, this time for 2 years, one year in Fine Art, the other in Computer Design. When Barbra’s husband had an opportunity to work in Papua New Guinea for a year, she accompanied him and while there, took the opportunity to paint. She found hundreds of subjects in the streets and markets of the Third World. Once back in Canada, Barbra freelanced in graphic design and painted in her spare time. Since retiring from graphics in 2013 and moving to Qualicum Beach, Barbra has become active in exploring both media and subject matter in her art. In 2014 she became an active member of the FCA and has won numerous awards in juried shows.
