Federation of Canadian Artists 70th Anniversary Show 
2011 marks the 70th anniversary of the Federation of Canadian Artists. To honour this landmark event, the Federation is sponsoring a special Open Exhibition in recognition of past and current artists who have contributed to the importance of art in Canada. This will be a juried exhibition of original paintings, prints and drawings open to all living artists who reside in Canada. A special category has been included for students enrolled in post-secondary institutions in the arts and emerging artists. This category will be juried separately and will qualify for prizes offered, adjudicated by the award jury.

Disa Marie Hale AFCA entered the Underlying Spirit show sponsored by the Victoria College of Art, in partnership with the Madrona Gallery, BC Arts Council, The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, ToonBoom, and the Victoria Symphony, in an homage to Emily Carr.  There were 138 entries, 35 pieces accepted, and Disa was fortunate to have one picture juried in.  The show opens Sept 9th at 7 PM with the jurors in attendance.

Sherry Mitchell, SFCA, has had a painting accepted into the International Guild of Realism's Sixth Annual Juried Exhibition, which will take place September 30th to October 22nd at the Sage Creek Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

The exhibition will encompass 79 works by 72 artists, from a total of 400 works submitted for jurying.

Thank you to everyone who entered, participated in, helped with, and attended our Summer Juried Show. 

It has been a wonderful show, with good traffic through the gallery throughout the entire run, and an overwhelmingly positive reaction to the high quality of work being produced by the artists in our Chapter.  Our party on Wednesday was fun too, and it was great to see so many people supporting both our FCA show and the TOSH show that  evening.  

Well done, everyone!

Arrowsmith members are invited to attend Nanaimo Chapter's upcoming Garage Art Sale on Saturday the 25th June, 9 a.m. till noon at the German Cultural Centre, Nanaimo.

Bring a friend too and browse through some amazing stuff.   

In addition to all the great art materials and equipment, there's a fabulous selection of 150 art books from the library of the late Gail de Caux.  They are in pristine condition and are marked at one quarter of the list price or less, e.g. a book priced $25.99, will sell for $6.00.  Many are hard cover and there is one signed first edition!
