The southwest end of Wallace Island forms two sharp points with a long narrow shelving bay between them facing towards the distant islands to the south.
This makes it unwise to anchor there overnight, but we have risked it when the forecast has been for steady fine weather.
The western point extends below high water far enough to require the day marker to show the small boatsailor not to cut short around the point or risk finding the "foul ground".
