Currently exploring the multifaceted perspective of the world according to "tweens" the artist renders large format paintings with acrylic, oil and fibre. West Coast Canadian roots influence the artist's landscapes and portraits described as bold and energetic. Bold, sensual and contemporary, each creation tells the story of inspiration and playful experimentation. The artist creates unique textures by carving into paint, tar and plaster on canvas or board. The fluid play across the layers of media is unified by a harmonious glaze of colour. Inspired by the wild pacific scenery, her work combines the diversity of the cultures that percolate within. Prior to moving the Island in 2006, she had the unusual opportunity to sample an assortment of art techniques at Emily Carr in Vancouver. Mixed media was a natural progression for her. Using the strong base of colour and composition from fibre arts she began to incorporate materials and concepts to produce a collage of medium rich in colour, texture and meaning. Today she nestles into her studio at the Schoolhouse in Qualicum. Challenged by its patronage, she thrives on the sharing of ideas and expression through art.
