Jody Schneider
Jody was born in B.C. and has had the good fortune to have lived in nearly every area of B.C. from the Yukon border to Vancouver. She studied geography and art education at U.B.C. and after graduating taught elementary school in the tiny northern community of Telegraph Creek. She has now lived on Vancouver Island for over twenty years. During that time she and her husband had a family and built a 38’ sailboat. In 1998, with their two children they sailed for three years to Mexico, through the South Pacific to New Zealand, and home again.
Through these years Jody continued painting, mostly in oils and watercolours, drawing with many media, taking workshops and participating in life drawing groups, even joining one for a short time in Russell N.Z.
Jody Schneider StudioSince 2008 she has been an artist-in-residence at the Old School House Arts Centre in Qualicum Beach B.C. happily pursuing her love of figurative work and portraiture. In 2009 she participated in the Three Layer project “Painted Personas” with Leigh Buchanan and Susan McLennan , painting from life various people from their community.
At TOSH she also began creating multi-layered acrylic abstracts, investigating interactions of colour and the evocation of movement, sound and emotion through colour, in unique vivid images on canvas.
