Jill Owen-Flood

Jill commenced her art education in England where she won several awards from the Royal Drawing Society. She came to Canada with her parents and continued her art education through the Edmonton Art Gallery, the Banff School of Fine Arts, and the University of Alberta. She also studied art under William Townsend, Harold Olsen, John Weiver, Harold Lyon, and Percy Henson. Jill taught art at the Edmonton Art Gallery and in the public education system and has served on the Board of Directors of the Edmonton Art Gallery. She has a Bachelor of Education degree and a Masters of Education and is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists.

Watercolours have long been a favourite media but she has also enjoys oils and acrylics and enjoys doing pallet knife paintings. When living in Alberta, she had several one-woman shows and exhibited regularly at the Edmonton Art Gallery, commercial art galleries in Edmonton, Banff, and Jasper. Her works are included in Government of Alberta and corporate collections as well as private collections throughout Canada, the United States, Austria, Great Britain and Europe. Since moving to Vancouver Island in 2004 she has exhibited her art at Gallery 223 in Nanaimo, Oceanside Arts Council in Parksville and in the Old School House in Qualicum Beach.

Jill is primarily a realistic painter who selects her subject matter from her own experiences, love of nature and the outdoors. While watercolour has been a long-time favourite medium, Jill also works in oils and acrylics.
