Helen Webster
Born in Drumheller, Alberta, Helen’s childhood was spent in the vast prairie environment that still inspires her paintings. The landscapes of open space, whether Alberta fields and skies, or the dark green of forests and the blues of the Pacific Ocean intrigue and guide her.
Helen always wanted to interpret the landscape through paint and throughout her school years, art was always her first love. Art Education was her major for her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Victoria, and this continued throughout the time spent acquiring a Masters degree in Education. Helen has taught art at all levels from Kindergarten to Grade 10, and strongly supported art as “one of the basics “ throughout her teaching and administrative career.
Initially a watercolour painter, Helen's recent work in both representational and abstract landscapes has been in acrylics.
Helen is an Active status member of the Federation of Canadian Artists. Her work has been accepted in FCA juried shows, and she is currently represented by the Nanaimo Art Gallery. Her paintings hang in private and corporate collections in Alberta and British Columbia.
