Clare Turcott

Clare enjoys painting in Watercolour, Oils and Mixed Media. She was introduced to painting at an early age from school art to her Mother's influence as a portrait painter. After initially working in the field of Marine Biology Biology she chose to return to painting and trained as a Graphic Artist in 1980 - '84. She has since then worked in Graphics and Fine Arts. Painting preferences range from landscapes to abstract. Abstract works are usually mixed media using materials such as rice paper, her own hand made papers, acrylics and watercolour. Landscape paintings are done in watercolour or oil. Close up beach or botanicals are often done in coloured pencil. A love of the outdoors and our coastal areas bring much inspiration. Plein air painting is a favourite means of bringing inspirations and ideas together for finished works. Botanicals are another favourite and considered as close up landscapes. Most recently she has been researching plants native to our BC coastal area, rendering them with small coloured pencil drawings.
