Artist Statement

I come from a firm grounding in representational art and in medical and social sciences. I am a life-long learner, using creativity as a way to understand myself, my motivations and my interactions with the world around me. I have made a conscious decision to throw off the shackles of the figurative to explore a more philosophical ground of inquiry through abstract art. The conflict between previous artistic belief systems and my new creative orientation has led to a cognitive disequilibrium, allowing me to progress through further stages of artistic development and self-discovery.

“Abstract pictures are fictive models, because they make visible a reality that we can neither see nor describe, but whose existence we can postulate.” Gerhard Richter.
