Spacer                                                                 JACQUELINE SMITH

Jacqueline Smith began her art career in ceramics but a course in Japanese Brush Painting evoked the desire to explore watercolour and collage and since that time there is no turning back.

Born in Winnipeg Manitoba and raised " all across the country", she also spent many years in California but recently returned to Vancouver Island B.C. and painting full time.

Jacqueline has had individual and group shows and has received awards in California, and since returning to Canada has received awards for her paintings and collages in numerous shows, most recently the Award of Excellence and a Jurors Choice and Honorable Mention Awards in 2008 Federation of Canadian Artists Shows.

She is a Signature member of The Gold Coast Watercolor Society in California and an active member of Watercolor West and The Federation of Canadian Artists. She has paintings in collections in California, New York, Georgia, France, and Canada.

Jacqueline studied art at Ventura College and has studied with Zoltan Zabo, Skipp Lawrence, Katherine Chiang Liu, Christopher Schink, Gerald Brommer and Carol Barnes

                                                                 ARTIST STATEMENT

I paint for the sheer joy of it. Some visual delights will not leave me alone until I put paint to paper. It thrills and lifts my spirit. If my art contributes to the joy, delight and peace in anyone else, then I am successful.
